Meandering in Monemvasia.Today was another (fairly) free day. Before crossing the causeway, we stopped at a local bakery to learn how they make traditional almond pastries. Then it was onto the shuttle for a quick drive to "the rock." Dafni took our group on an orientation walk of the old town and offered suggestions on different things to do in the area. Monemvasia's lower town provides ample entertainment for shoppers and explorers to wander the stone- and shop-lined streets, but some tour members opted to hike to the top of the rock to discover the ruins of the upper town.

Monemvasia was an opportunity to explore without purpose, so I hope you will indulge me for an afternoon jaunt through the lower town by picture with minimal narration! I really spent the time meandering tight little streets with no specific purpose or direction. We did find a little time to shop and found some great souvenirs!
The only event on our schedule for the day our evening cooking demonstration at the hotel with Rena. Several of us helped to make a few of the dishes we enjoyed for dinner, including tzatziki, chickpea patties, moussaka, and baklava. Yours truly helped in baklava-making. It looks difficult, but it's really not too hard - just lots of layering delicate phyllo pastry!
It's all Greek to me!
